Pilates is a system of strengthening exercise developed by Joseph H. Pilates, encompassing over 500 specialized apparatus, “prop,” and mat exercises. Made famous by athletes, dancers, and celebrities, the disciplined approach of Pilates focuses on the supporting muscles of the spine and pelvis – the “Powerhouse” muscles of the abdomen, back, and gluteals. This progressively challenging course begins with fundamental movements of mat work. From there, journey through modifications to suit your fitness level, variations to spur you on physically and mentally, and through various planes of movement for a balanced body – adding in fitness bands to simulate some of the apparatus work! Online exams reinforce the principles of movement and correct form. Soon you’ll be standing taller and feeling strong!
